If you fly into Nashville to join the tour please make your reservation at a hotel near the intersection of Old Hickory Boulevard & I-65 in Nashville so that you can be picked up from the hotel by our van before heading to lunch at the Cafe.  The Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Brentwood North is recommended.       1-800-939-4249 is the phone number for reservations.  The cost of the Hotel Friday night is not included in your tour package.

For those flying into Atlanta for the trip it is recommended that you stay at the Quality Inn on at 1255 Franklin Gateway SE, Marietta, GA (next to Cracker Barrel Restaurant (Call 1-855-973-7215 for reservations).  This is the place where we will be meeting in Marietta for the start of this trip.  The cost of the Hotel Friday night is not included in your tour package.

At the end of the Tour all participants will be transported by van back to Atlanta so if you flew into Nashville to join us there, you will either need to find transportation back to Nashville or arrange to fly back out of Atlanta.

The cost of lodging the night before the commencement of the trip and the cost of a hotel the night that each tour ends is not covered in the tour fee.

Where to stay if you are flying in for the Silver Comet trip:

We will pick you up from there for the start of this trip and return you to this location at the end of the trip or make arrangements to get you to the airport for an additional service fee.

What bike should I use?:

We do not provide bicycles for these trips but we can rent a bicycle for you if requested 15 days prior to the trip date.  We request that you ride a road bike, recumbent bike or a tandem bicycle for these trips as you will have a hard time with these distances on a mountain bike or a hybrid.  We also recommend that you ride your own bicycle as you will be most comfortable on that.  If you wish to ship your bicycle ahead of time it can be reassembled by a member of our team who formerly owned several bike shops and is our cracker jack bicycle mechanic for the tour.  If you wish for us to rent a bicycle for you, please provide us with the size of road bike that you would need.  The cost of the rental will be added to your tour fee. Estimated rental cost for renting a road bike or a two day  weekend trip is $100 or $600 for a week long rental.

What to pack for the trip?

Soon after receipt of your deposit and registration form and at least 30 days prior to your trip commencement date you will receive a packet containing the following:

How many and what type of cyclists do the tours?

Custom Tours – Call (770-375-0010) or e-mail (celeste@secyclingtours.com) to make arrangements We will do our best to arrange for you the trip that you want to take on the Silver Comet Trail (Georgia), Chief Ladiga Trail (extension of the Silver Comet on the Alabama side), Natchez Trace (Nashville, Tennessee to Natchez, MS) or even other destinations in the Southeast. We can accommodate approx. 10 cyclists depending on what type of bicycles you will be using.

The “Classic” Anniston trips generally have 10-15 cyclists ranging widely in age and abilities/speed.  Please note: this trip is for seasoned cyclists as we cover 186 miles in 2 days.  You should be able to ride an average of at least 13-14 miles per hour so that you complete the ride in approximately 7 hours each day.

The “Hammerhead” Anniston trip will generally have 10-15 cyclists who are more athletic in their capabilities.  Please note: this trip is reserved for fast/endurance cyclists.  This ride covers 186 miles in 2 days but at a speed averaging 20+ miles per hour with limited stops.  It is anticipated that they will complete the ride in under 5 hours each day. We have also done a one-way version of this trip from Anniston back to Smyrna, GA.  Please contact us for more details.

The out and back trip to Cave Spring, GA on the Silver Comet Trail can accommodate 6-10 cyclists.  This trip is at a more leisurely pace covering 37-62 miles each day (depending on where you choose to exit the trail from Rockmart to Cedartown, GA).  We will spend the night in Cave Spring, GA at the Hearn Academy Inn and then we shuttle you back to the trail and you ride back to Smyrna day 2.

The Natchez Trace trip can accommodate 6 – 8 cyclists. Please note: this trip is generally for seasoned veteran cyclists as we cover 400-500 miles in 7 or 8 days.  You are welcome to ride shorter mileage each day.  For this option, you still travel the entire length of the Trace and see all of the sites as you will be on the van following the cyclists with us for the balance of the day.  Note:  Less seasoned companions who want to experience the Trace with you may ride on a more limited basis and rest in the van or not ride at all if they so choose.  They are invited to come along as allowed by limited B&B or Inn space. Call to make this arrangement if you are interested in traveling with a less experienced cycling companion.

Your Health and Safety.

Bicycling, although a fun and healthy activity, is not without risks.  We have chosen routes which we feel are safe to ride and transport you in the van to attractions off of the Trace if we feel that is the safest option.  As cyclists all know, the unforseen is always possible.  It is up to each participant to ride with care, following the rules of the road and to not take unneccessary risks.   It is also up to each participant to know their own health and capabilities and to not undertake these rides without adequately training in prepariation for these trips. The van is always available if you are not up to riding on a particular day or do not feel comfortable riding on the route selected by the Tour Leader.
